Story
This September marks the anniversary of losing our friend James Maggs - a ridiculously lovely, kind human whose loss leaves a big hole in so many lives.
It's also an important month for me as I start my training to becoming a Samaritans Listening Volunteer. I had wanted to do this for a while but was spurred into applying following James' passing. All being well I will start taking calls on shifts in Bristol from end of October.
We've also recently lost another kind soul - a man of similar age from our wonderful gym community - in the same tragic way.
Suicide is the biggest killer of people under the age of 35 and the biggest killer of men under the age of 50.
In honour of James, Brandon, and many, many people that are struggling with their mental health, and to raise money for Samaritans I wanted to take up a challenge. So, at the start of September I will be attempting the David Goggins 4x4x48.
I will be starting at 1pm on Friday 6th September, and running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours (48 miles total). The last 4 miles will be on Sunday 8th at 9am.
It will be very tough mentally and physically, but nothing compared to some of the battles people go through.
If you're able to support me on this and donate to the Samaritans, I'd be so very grateful.
I would also love some company on each of the 12 runs, so please also let me know if you'd like to join me for a 4 mile stint.
Thanks so much
