Imagine a world where every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. That's the vision behind OSCAR - an organization that uses the power of football to transform the lives of underprivileged children in India.

Growing up in the Ambedkar Nagar slum in Mumbai, Ashok Rathod faced immense challenges. But he was one of the lucky ones - his parents believed in education and sent him to school. It was there that Ashok discovered his passion for football and realized its potential as a tool for change.

In 2006, at just 18 years old, Ashok co-founded OSCAR with a group of school drop-outs. He started by teaching them football skills, patiently waiting for the right moment to introduce the concept of education. Today, OSCAR engages over 7,000 girls and boys from some of the most deprived communities in India.

But there is still so much more to be done. Many of these children face a future filled with poverty, crime, addiction, and early marriage. That's why Arthur and I are trekking Mount Toubkal in the Atlas, from June 5th to June 9th, 2024 to raise funds for OSCAR and support these incredible girls and boys.

Arthur, my eldest son and I were both introduced to OSCAR in our own way: Arthur raised funds for OSCAR when he was at school and I, through a dear friend who constantly spoke about the positive impact of OSCAR on the life of so many kids. Last year, I also went to Mumbai to meet Ashok and see the work that he and his team are doing on the ground. Such an enriching trip! I met so many amazing, committed and inspiring people working with OSCAR and saw the joy in those kids' eyes on the football pitches!
