Story

Hi everyone! I'm back again - no pun intended.

Last year in February 2022 I completed 2000 pull ups over a very gruelling 17 hours and 30 minutes at Anytime Fitness Tooting, and with the help of yourselves, and my employer, we raised an incredible £2397 for St George's Hospital Charity.

As someone who's been fortunate to be in good health for the large majority of my life, this year I want to give back to those who are less fortunate for my milestone 30th birthday in July. Although I've not been impacted by cancer myself, I have had friends and family members who have suffered through the mental and physical impacts of cancer and I want to do my part in increasing the funding raised for research to produce more life-saving drugs and improve existing treatments.

I am looking to raise £2000 for Cancer Research UK and I will be more than doubling my effort on last year where I will emulate the effort of former US Navy Seal, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller David Goggins who completed 4030 pull ups.

Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. That equates to roughly 1000 everyday, and 375,000 every year. Despite treatments, there are 460 deaths every day - 167,000 in a year or one every 4 minutes. That's 45%, and this same statistic applies to those diagnosed at stage 3 or 4.(Cancer statistics for the UK 2022)

Cancer does not discriminate against age, and a recent FT Research report from the Institute of Health Metrics have shown over the last three decades between 1990 and 2019, there has been a 22% increase in cancer incidence among 20 to 34 year olds. These are at the highest level in 30 years. The figures which stand out the most highly are the 104%, 95%, and 88% increases in nasopharynx, prostate, and kidney cancers in the same time period. (Borrett & Neville, 2023)

With your help we can reduce this statistic.

Thank you,

Arman
