We support families of children with CHD to support them on Ocean Ward and beyond.

Story

At just 5 weeks old, Arlo was taken to A&E with laboured breathing due to a chest infection, or so we thought.

Within 48 hours, our world was turned upside down. We were told he had a serious heart condition and would need multiple surgeries. Nothing could have prepared us for that moment.

We were quickly admitted to E1 Ocean Ward at Southampton General Hospital, where we’ve been surrounded by some of the most skilled and compassionate clinical teams imaginable. Arlo has already had his first procedure, and while we’re not out of the woods yet, he’s doing well—and we’re hopeful.

This has easily been the most difficult time of our lives. But throughout it all, the care we’ve received has been outstanding. Every nurse, doctor, consultant and surgeon has gone above and beyond to support not just Arlo, but us as a family.

Ocean Ward has become a second home, and we want to give back to the people who have done so much for us by fundraising for their affiliated charity: Friends of Ocean Ward.

The charity was created by parents who’ve been through similar journeys. It helps provide support, comforts, and special experiences for families like ours during some of the toughest days they’ll ever face.

If you’re able to donate, however big or small, it will go a long way in helping more children and families on the ward.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
