Story
In May 2024, the Walkers Weiner Warriors (Andy Monkman, Alex Morrison, Ross Armitage, and Archie Hutchinson) will be taking on the Samworth Charity Challenge 'Super Tough Edition', in aid of The Anthony Nolan Trust.
Why have we chosen Anthony Nolan?
We have chosen Anthony Nolan due to it being a charity very close to our hearts, in particular Archie, who's Dad (Andy) had been battling Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) for nearly 4 years, when sadly in early November 2023, Andy lost his long and hard-fought battle to AML. During the 4 years Andy had a transplant through Anthony Nolan which gave him more precious time with Archie and his family.
What is the Samworth Charity Challenge?
The Samworth Charity Challenge is a full day event including: Cycling, Hiking, and Canoeing/Kayaking. We are in the 'Super Tough' category which will be sure to test our fitness levels and team work to compete against the other teams within the competition.
A little more info from Anthony Nolan:
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
