Story
Those of you that know us well will know that marathon running has never been on our radar. If you'd have suggested the idea in our university days, we'd be unlikely to have looked up from our Five Guys. Truth is, we would only take on a challenge like this for a seriously good cause.
We are running on behalf of Dementia UK, a specialist dementia nurse charity. The nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide free life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
The majority of you reading this will experience the devastating impact of dementia at some stage in life. Those of you that have already experienced the disease will recognise how important this support is when it comes to the deterioration of a loved one.
Any support you can offer will no doubt spur us on in the dark training months to come. Come 21st April, keep your eyes peeled for three mildly unfit lads pulling up the rear.
