Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving Page.
My friend, Rebecca, and I are competing in our first 'Sprint' triathlon in Cardiff at the end of June and I wanted to use this opportunity to raise awareness for a cause close to my heart.
Dravet syndrome is a rare, severe form of uncontrolled and drug resistant epilepsy affecting 1 in 15,000 people. All Dravet children experience severe seizures within the first year of life which continue through childhood and for the rest of their lives. Many lives are lost every year and these children go through so much, including losing speech, mobility, development delays and much more.
Archie, my beautiful godson, has Dravet syndrome. He is 3 years old and an absolute warrior. His first seizure began at 3 months old - since then, he has battled daily and survived induced comas, ICU and more resus hospital visits than his parents, Georgie and Charlie, can remember...
but Archie is a fighter, he has incredible parents who are fighting for him every day, and there is hope in the form of medical research. We are fundraising to fund this research for future medication, genetic therapy trials and a cure, as well as to raise awareness of this rare syndrome.
The latest research medication funded by the public allows many children like Archie to go days without a seizure, allowing them to enjoy life! <3
Thank you in advance for supporting this important cause.
Love Antonia and Rebecca x
