I'm raising money for Glass Door because, as their Finance Trustee, I know that every pound of your donation will be used to support and shelter those in the local community who are at an absolute crisis point.

Homelessness in London has been increasing drastically over the past 18 months so what can you or I do to help? Beyond a friendly word and a small donation, I lack the skills to properly support someone off the street and into a safe home, into health, and an income, all of which is difficult to access without a fixed address and without a knowledge of 'how the system works'.

This is where Glass Door comes in. Over the cold season, our local night shelters provide 105 safe places to stay overnight, every night for 22 weeks, with dinner and breakfast and the friendly support of local volunteers. All year round, our brilliant casework team help guests access healthcare, find accommodation and maintain tenancies, replace lost or stolen ID, provide a fixed address, open bank accounts, access storage, apply for benefits, attend appointments with guests, going to banks, job centres – advocating and empowering them.

Glass Door welcomes everyone as their guest, giving them some stability before helping them take the necessary steps to move off the streets for good. By donating now, you are helping us to provide shelter and support to someone who has nowhere else to turn.

£23 could provide two personalised advice session with a caseworker.

£33 could provide someone with safe shelter, a hot evening meal and breakfast for one night.

£115 could provide ten new guests with an initial advice session from our caseworkers at one of our partner daytime centres.
