Story
In April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for The Martlets Hospice.
It's my least favourite thing to ask you all to dig deep into your pockets, I've run plenty of marathons before but never fundraised. Please donate whatever you can afford - even if it's just the cost of a pint to raise a glass to loved ones lost.
The Martlets Hospice is based in Brighton & Hove and provides support for patients with terminal illnesses including cancer.
Anyone who has had the use the services of the Martlets before will know what a worthwhile donation it is. For me and my family, giving something back to the Martlets is very important.
In 2019, my brother-in-law Matt Reed was diagnosed with Bowel cancer.
During the final weeks of Matt's life, he spent his time at the Martlets Hospice getting unconditional support and care from his family, friends and wonderful nurses and staff. The Martlets have a dedicated team of specialist doctors and nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, a team of counsellors and social workers, and even volunteers who are involved in the simple things like serving tea and arranging flowers. They make the final days as peaceful and dignified as they can be.
I want to show my appreciation for the nurses and staff who work day-in and day-out to support those who need it the most. It makes 26 miles seem an absolute breeze in comparison.
All and any donations are greatly appreciated!
Love, Ant x
