Falkirk Wheel Abseil: Rangers Charity Foundation · 14 March 2025 ·

The Rangers Charity Foundation helps to make the world of difference to thousands of lives. We are currently supporting our GCHC, Glasgow City Mission, SAMH, and various armed services-related charities, as well as delivering our own community work

Story

On Friday 14th March 2025, I will be performing a 100 foot free-fall abseil from the Falkirk Rotating Boat Bridge in Scotland.

Why am I doing this? What is the story behind it? Who am I raising funds for and why does this matter to me? might be some of the questions you are thinking. Let me answer your questions!

The Rangers Charity Foundation exists to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, showing compassion to those in need, tackling inequalities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to change their lives for the better.

Our comprehensive range of programmes in the community reaches thousands of children and adults every season and thanks to our work with our charity partners, we have also funded important projects that have a lasting and significant impact locally, nationally and across the world.

In November 2023, I slept rough on the pitch side of Ibrox Stadium to highlight the issue of homelessness across the United Kingdom.

On the 14th March 2025 I will be going over the side of Falkirk Rotating Boat Bridge and performing a 100 foot free fall abseil to highlight the issue of mental health and suicide.

I have a fear of heights, so when I was told about the challenge, my head said no way that I can do that, but my heart said Anth! What if doing this, you could save even one life by getting them the support that they need.

This is a topic that is very close to my heart. I, like many other people, have lost friends and family members to mental health issues.

This is the reason why I must complete this challenge and answer the call.

Suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 50. If we can tackle the problems that cause and exacerbate mental health issues such as homelessness, bereavement, relationship breakdowns, addiction, at the source, then we can reduce the risk of suicide.

If anyone viewing my page is in need of support for mental health issues, then please call the Samaritans on 116 123 or text SHOUT to 85258, both available 24 hours a day.
