Story
On April 18th and 19th, I’ll be cycling 120 miles from Bournemouth to Croydon to raise vital funds for the Palace for Life Foundation.
I grew up in South London, a place that remains close to my heart. Memories flood back—entire day BMX adventures in Lloyd Park, racing around Bologne park where I lost part of my front tooth, kicking a ball around around Norbury Rec and wheeling my BMX onto the Holmesdale Road terrace during Palace matches in the early-to-mid 80s. Though I can't recall seeing Palace score during those terrace moments :) those experiences shaped my connection to the area.
Now, living elsewhere, I'm fortunate to return with my young son to discover the joy of match days as we shape memories together and explore new horizons. I'm acutely aware that this opportunity isn't available to everyone, which motivates my involvement with Palace for Life.
Those who know me understand I'm a cyclist, though recent years have seen my rides limited to short local routes due to personal challenges. Now, I'm making a comeback—quite literally getting back on the road. This charity ride offers not just a fitness goal, but a meaningful purpose and a sense of accountability.
Growing up in south London has never been tougher, but through the work of Palace for Life, we have the opportunity to drive positive change. They work in schools and communities, inspiring young people to choose better paths and lead healthier lives. Your donations will directly support their work, creating real impact for real people.
Here’s how your support can make a difference:
£5 could provide a child with sensory support through a set of ear defenders.
£25 could fund an hour-long employability coaching session for a young person.
£35 could buy new, smart shoes for a young person starting their first job.
£58 could buy an under-16 a passport, opening up new opportunities.
Every donation helps make a tangible impact on the lives of young people in south London.
Thank you for your support!
