I am taking part in the Shaptor Sponsored Sleep Out 2023, raising money and awareness about homelessness. On Friday 6th October, a group of us will be spending the night outside to raise funds for the homeless charity Porchlight. I am expecting it to be a humbling experience, especially knowing it will only be for one night, unlike so many who don't have homes to return to.

To see the impact of raising these much needed funds, here is how the money could be spent:

• £5 could cover the cost of a call to our free helpline from a person in crisis

• £30 could pay for a welcome pack of essentials and toiletries for someone moving into one of our accommodations.

• £52.40 could pay for a warm meal and 3 months of support

• £61.50 could fund 3 outreach sessions, helping people leave streets behind

• £500 could pay for 1 month’s rent for someone who has nowhere to live
