Story
Haley and I are planning to walk at least 25 miles during March to raise money for Footprints Baby Loss, a charity based in the UK that provides support for people who have lost one or more of their twins or triplets. They provide support free of charge, and anything you’re willing to donate will help them continue to offer these essential services.
I can only speak for my own experience, but losing a multiple has been so complex. We simultaneously experienced the joy of welcoming new life, the heartbreak and devastation of losing a child, and the rollercoaster of having a surviving twin in the NICU. Caring for Indi at home while deep in grief felt impossible at times, and visiting Cypress at the NICU each day also meant returning to the place that held the trauma of losing Juniper. Haley and I attended a bereaved parents support group through a different organization, and while it was helpful, we also felt out of place due to having surviving babies. Then we found out about Footprints and attended one of their support groups for people who have lost a multiple and have one or more survivors. Being with others who understand on a deeper level has been so beneficial, especially since grief can be so isolating. Footprints also connected me with a befriender (peer support person) to chat with one on one. These supports have provided space to speak about Juni and get ideas for coping with the ongoing pain of losing him from others who have similar stories.
This past week we hit four months since we lost Juni. We love and miss him so much. We will forever hold him in our hearts and keep his memory alive by speaking his name. Thank you so much for supporting Footprints Baby Loss charity and helping families like mine.
