Story
Hello,
I will be running the St Cuthbert’s Way 100k ultra marathon to raise funds for HospiceCare North Northumberland.
Why?
As a THANK YOU for the wonderful care my step-father Derek Fairnington received in the last weeks of his life.
Thanks to the dedicated HospiceCare nurses Derek was able to die peacefully at home (in Wooler). This was something very important to him and all of his family.
I will never be able to thank HospiceCare enough, but this is my way of trying.
About HospiceCare
HospiceCare delivers person-centered Hospice at Home service across North Northumberland, offering practical and emotional care and support to adults aged 18 years and over, who are living with a terminal illness, requiring palliative input. Care is provided within a person’s home by our specially trained nursing team & healthcare assistants 365 days a year, day or night. Each year HospiceCare needs to raise over £850,000 and receive just 5% from the NHS - the rest we have to find from community fundraising, donations, and legacies.
