I’m doing a swim challenge to mark my 70th which is in June 2025.

I thought ‘why don’t I swim 70 lengths, 70 times before my 70th?’

Seems like a good idea (not!!)

I haven’t done any serious swimming for over 30 years so didn’t know how much of a challenge it would be……

I have completed 7 of my 70 lengths (1.75km) already, at my local pool (The Carnival Pool in Wokingham). Only 63 more to go!!

Seems like I’ll swim 122.5km between now and beginning of June, regularly swimming the distance twice a week to hit my target.

I am passionate about what My Cancer My Choices offers to people going through Cancer treatment in Berkshire, and see the positive impact first hand as one of the therapists!! Any support you can offer would be really welcome. One in two people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Cancer affects the body, mind and spirit and MCMC passionately believes everyone with cancer should have access, from diagnosis, to complementary therapies. MCMC's volunteer, specialist therapists offer free, one-to-one treatments such as acupuncture and massage, alongside group courses in mindfulness and yoga. These aim to relieve the side effects of cancer treatment and can make the cancer journey easier by encouraging relaxation and reducing stress.
