Story
On September 15 and 16, I will be running 200 miles with my Vinfen team from Brenton Woods, NH all the way to Hampton Beach. Why might you ask? It is all about increasing awareness about and funds to support the health and wellness of people with mental health conditions, disabilities, and life challenges throughout the Vinfen community so that they can live full and meaningful lives.
Persons with long-term mental health conditions such as schizophrenia live on average 15-20 years less than the general population. Those who have both a schizophrenia diagnosis and are members of other marginalized groups (BIPOC, LGBTQIA, below poverty line, addiction, etc.) live even shorter lives. The reasons for this are complex, but I know with certainty that isolation and stigma are deadly. Every person deserves community and enriching activities in their life, regardless of diagnosis or symptoms.
I have already made the questionable decision to spend a weekend living in a van and running up hills, all you have to do is donate. Any amount is appreciated and will be put toward a valuable cause.
