The Teignmouth Lifeboat Station was established in 1851, today its volunteers operate a 24-hour search and rescue service along the south coast of Devon. To do this they rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern station to launch from.

Story

Our Teignmouth Lifeboat Station was established in 1851, supporting rescues along the busy shores between Berry Head and Exmouth and of course, up the River Teign.

Today, as one of the oldest working stations, we still continue to work as a community water safety operative, with crews from our local stations working together to respond to calls from the Coastguards to save lives at, in or around the sea and shorelines.

Our industrious, creative and cheerful volunteers organise all kinds of events to help raise much needed funds which assist in the running of the station and to provide the very safest and most reliable equipment for our crews, who operate a 24 hour search and rescue service, 365 days a year.

This is my 23rd year of volunteering with the RNLI and whilst celebrating the RNLI Bi-Centennial in 2024, I felt a great sense of achievement raising much needed funds for them (over £3000) by running in The London Marathon in April 2024.

I started running on 15 December 2023 having had an operation on my hand. I couldn’t play golf so began walking more and then jogging and then, well running! I’m no spring chicken I have to say but joined a “Couch to 5k” group in the January and did strengthening classes too - all of which helped me when I began Parkrun, both as a runner and later as a marshall /timekeeper too. I now run with another group too for fun and to learn from the experiences of others - The Dawlish Coasters and hope that this will help me to prepare for my next RNLI fundraising campaign - yes, you’ve guessed it!

I’m running again in The London Marathon 2025 for the RNLI and hoping to achieve £2,300.

We are about prevention through education opportunities and preservation of life - it would be fantastic if YOU could be one of our supporters to help me to achieve funds to support our crews - we are “One Crew” working together to make a difference to save lives at sea and of course, locally on the River Teign and within our bay.

Thank you!

Anne
