Story

Hi all,

I’m running the Paris marathon on April 7th. It’s my first marathon and hoping to raise as much money as possible for the RNLI. The RNLI is an amazing organisation, relying heavily on volunteers and entirely funded by charitable donations. 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of the charity.

The RNLI do extraordinary work in some of the toughest conditions. Last year, the Baltimore RNLI did some incredible work in returning my friend Neasa’s husband David to her and her three boys after he died in a tragic accident on Cape Clear off the south coast of Ireland. David was a keen runner himself, running the Paris marathon in 2022. The prior year Neasa tried enthusiastically to convince me to run a marathon with her but I resisted on the basis I’d never run more than 10km before and generally hate running! So completing the Paris marathon will be a huge challenge for me and hopefully a fitting tribute to David.

So with that said, I would be most grateful for any donation you could make to help support the work of the RNLI for the next 200 years.

Many thanks in advance,

AMK

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
