Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are fundraising to buy a car for Anne Hope House, a residential unit for women who have been homeless and are seeking to rebuild their lives. We previously had a vehicle which enabled us to support residents to appointments, take them on trips and go on holiday. Unfortunately we had issues with this car repeatedly breaking down (on the Queensferry Crossing!) and it didn't meet the Low Emission Zone criteria coming into force in Edinburgh shortly so we are seeking to buy a new one!
Here's what some of our residents had to say about the impact of having a car for them:
‘Having a car enables us to take house trips to places we would never be able to afford going otherwise. This is really good for relationship building and gaining confidence. Some of the women here haven’t previously ventured much further than their own flat, so it’s a really positive experience.’
‘It helps when you have anxiety and can’t leave the house. It’s also helpful to go places that you can’t go on the bus like to Loch Tay and other long distance places as a community.’
‘It would be great to have a car as it would allow us to do a lot more activities which is really important for us all here, for our mental health and physical health. Also, to keep us connected outwith the house.’
We would welcome any donation you feel you could give, big or small. Thank you so much,
Everyone at Anne Hope House
