Story
Thanks to all who have kindly sponsored me, both online and offline on the SHCT Ride & Stride ...and you've still an opportunity to do so if you haven't already.
14th September was a near-perfect day for cycling and I opted for a leisurely trip around the beautiful Suffolk countryside rather than visit towns to 'bags' extra churches. I visited 16 churches and chapels and biked just over 31 miles, met some lovely people and enjoyed the day very much. Thanks to those stalwarts who volunteer to greet and sign in cyclists and offer welcome refreshments. It really does make a difference when riding a leg- and cake-powered - and not electric bike!
50% of the money I raise will go to help repair our beautiful Grade 1 listed church - St Mary's Mendlesham - the PCC has embarked on giving a much-needed facelift to our unique Tudor armoury and the nave roof will soon have to be repaired at considerable cost - and the other 50% to the SHCT, which organises this event and makes grants to churches and chapels of all denominations towards repair and restoration costs.
Thanks to the talented Ant Ripley for his unique drawing!
