Story
I am one of nine local businesspeople who have been put behind bars for Maggie's. I've been found guilty of bringing smelly lunches into the newsroom, giving my colleagues all a free tour of the world's smelliest cuisines—no passport needed! I've been sent down with bail set at £1,500.
Having traded in my freedom for Maggie's, With only my phone, laptop and my powers of persuasion, the challenge I face is to call on the collective goodwill of my network to raise funds for Maggie's Highlands. My freedom & reputation depend on it!
"I want to take part in this event because I have personally seen how cancer can affect an individual and their loved ones. One of my friends endured cervical cancer and she has been an absolute warrior throughout, she's always smiling, keeping positive and kicking cancer's ass! The work Maggies does is phenomenal, and I know how fundamental their services are to so many people across the Highlands which is another reason why I want to take part as without critical funding then this amazing facility wouldn't be available for people like my friend. It's a place of acceptance, understanding and a safe place for those going through the unimaginable."
Maggie's Highlands has approached local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To their delight they agreed, and here we are today. All of the courageous jail birds have been charged with outrageous fictitious crimes and are now in cuffs and behind bars.
Jail or bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, but let's not forget the important reason behind the event: to raise funds to support people with cancer.
Thank you
