Story
On the 9th March 2025 I will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon to raise funds for the Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) with my friends , Ali, Catherine, Chris and Tom.
Just before Christmas 2023 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Thankfully the tumour was benign, but golf-ball size, and needed surgery quickly. In February, I underwent 16 hours of surgery at Addenbrookes to remove the tumour. Thankfully, the surgery went well, but did result in me permanently losing use of my right ear for both hearing and balance. The recovery has been long and difficult - initially barely being able to walk to the end of my bed - so the Half Marathon will be a big challenge.
It was soon after the surgery that me and my friends set the goal of running the Cambridge Half Marathon, in the place where we all met, as a way of giving back, and as a goal to mark just over one year since my surgery.
I am grateful every day for the outstanding care I received at Addenbrookes. ACT supports innovation in patient care and helps to make Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals, even better, and I know first-hand the difference that they can make.
