Story
Thank you for clicking through to my fundraiser! 💕
I am finally doing something I’ve waited years to do and running the London Marathon again for MIND. Those who know me well will know that I am feeling nervous, overwhelmed and full of self-doubts at the prospect of this challenge… but I am so determined to take on this event for a charity I feel extremely passionately about!
My first London Marathon was in 2015 (which is impossible because I haven’t aged since then surely?!) - I ran for MIND that year too… I wish I’d be able to bottle those 26.2 mile feelings! The sense of community, togetherness and pride was like nothing I have ever experienced since!!
Despite some great work by so many in the last decade to educate people, there is still a stigma attached to mental health. This seems unbelievable because 1 in 4 of us will be personally affected by a mental health problem at some point in our lives. My hope is that one day, mental health will be on par with physical health. Normalising mental health will come from talking openly about struggles and educating people about sensitivities of mental health. Those stigmas NEED to be broken down!
Would you suggest to someone with a cold “thinking positively will help you not to sneeze”?
Or tell someone with a broken leg to just ‘run it off’?
Or advise someone in a coma “that if you just tried harder to get out of bed, you’d feel better?”
No… you wouldn’t!
I know times are financially hard for so many people so if you can’t donate to me, that’s absolutely fine. Some encouraging words or thoughts will mean the world to me!
But if you are able to support me with a donation here between now and April or participation in one of my fundraising events, please know that you will be helping MIND to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
Thank you for reading to the end and just remember that’s it’s ok not to be ok sometimes 💕💕
