Story
I work for Us in a Bus which is a small local charity based in Redhill. We support people who are often isolated and who find communicating with the world (and the people in it) a massive challenge. These people generally have profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex needs and sensory processing differences, requiring speciality assistance to build meaningful engagement with others. We visit their homes and spend time together as friends, enabling people to express how they are feeling and make choices for themselves using Intensive Interaction. The need to connect and communicate with each other in a way that means something to us and that contributes positively to emotional well-being is one which every person in existence needs and should have a right to; sadly, many people with disabilities don't get this opportunity.
I will be leaping off Senate House in London to raise funds for Us in a Bus so that we can continue to combat loneliness and build relationships with the wonderful people we see. https://usinabus.org.uk/
