Story
On Sunday 13th October I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Refugee Action.
Having been inspired by the runners in the London marathon this year - especially my brother who ran for such an excellent cause - I’ve been motivated to try for my first half!
I’ve decided to run for a Refugee Action, a charity who have been standing up for refugees since 1981, delivering services for refugees, and campaigning for their rights.
Refugee rights are human rights. Unfortunately, treatment of refugees in the UK seems to be worsening. This feels especially prevalent in light of the ongoing actions and opinions upheld by the Tory government in the UK, highlighted by the recent Rwanda bill and race hate-fuelled riots across the UK. In addition, the ongoing genocides in Gaza and Congo, as well as civil and political unrest in many other nations across the globe, amplifies the need to support charities like Refugee Action.
Sadly, I can’t change the decisions of government’s or the opinions of the masses, but I can do this!
I know the cost of living is affecting everyone, so any small donation you can spare is really appreciated and will all go to supporting refugees across the UK, as well as the vital work refugee action supports in treating all displaced people with kindness, dignity and respect. Thank you!
