Fundraising for Bliss
1 in every 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist care.
Last year our son, Zachary, was one of those babies, having been born at 25 weeks gestation. We spent a long and difficult 12 weeks in various hospitals on the South coast, taking each day as it came, grateful for the slow but steady progress he made.
Heart scans, brain scans, blood transfusions and oxygen desaturations became part of our daily vocabulary as we navigated our way through an unknown and unexpected reality. Bliss became our compass, pointing us in the right direction when we looked for guidance and reassurance relating to NICU life and beyond.
Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. They rely on donations to fund their work, and without our help they won't be able to reach the 90,000 babies needing neonatal care each year.
We will be lighting up Weymouth esplanade with our fairy lights and glow sticks as we and our little ones walk on 14th November from Weymouth Pavilion to the Pier Bandstand and back, raising funds for this amazing charity. Your donation to my page will help Bliss to drive improvements in neonatal care, to ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of policy and planning for the future, and to provide information and support to all families with a baby born premature or sick.
NICU babies are the strongest people. Let's help them shine bright, and donate today 🌟
