Story
St Luke’s Hospice is a charity that provides free expert end of life care to local people, and as a family we have experienced first hand how vital their service is.
My mum (Jillian Wycliffe-Jones) recently passed away peacefully at home after a 3 year battle with Cancer. Mums wishes were that she was to stay at home in her final weeks and days. As a family we of course fully supported this, but we were only able to fulfill mums wishes due to the support received in mum's final weeks and days by St Luke's Hospice who tended to mum's personal needs, as well as supporting us as a family in our family home. The St Luke's care assistants and nurses treated mum with compassion, respect and dignity which allowed us as a family to spend quality time with mum knowing that she was in the comfort of her own home with those she loved.
As a family we cannot thank St Luke's Hospice enough for allowing us to spend those final precious few days in our family home with our wonderful Mum. Therefore, Matt and I (Anna) are taking on the 33km Tour De Moor Bicycle Ride in the hope that we can raise some money to allow St Luke's Hospice to continue to provide this exceptional service for local families in the future when they also are in need.
We now only have 5 weeks left of training to prepare ourselves for our longest and most challenging bike ride on the 8th October! We are complete novices to cycling so this is going to be a challenge, but we are fully committed and will do anything to get over that finish line in memory of Mum.
We really appreciate that the cost of living is really tricky at the moment, but we would be grateful of any donations you are able to make to this wonderful charity.
Thank you so much! Anna and Matt x
