Story
Please spare two minutes to read this post 🙏As most of you are aware I was extremely blessed to become Grannie Annie to beautiful Sofia in October 2022, unfortunately just before Christmas, Sofia was diagnosed with biliary atresia - a rare liver disease (that affects just 1 in 18,000 babies) and subsequently underwent a 5 hour long surgery to attempt to correct her bile system and enable adequate bile drainage to prevent further liver damage. She had no bile ducts outside of her liver and her gall bladder was shrivelled up so this was removed. They then attached her intestines directly up to her liver in the hope that the bile would be able to drain adequately. Sadly, this operation hasn’t worked and Sofia’s liver became more scarred, she is now in end stage liver failure and Sofia has been listed for a liver donor. Thank you for reading so far, please keep going just a little longer….As many of you know, I have a ridiculous fear of heights and am setting myself the challenge to walk over the O2 arena, (with my eyes open 🤢) in order to raise as much money as I can for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation who are a wonderful support for many families going through what my daughter, son in law and granddaughter are currently experiencing. If anyone could spare a pound or 2 to sponsor me and help this amazing charity, we would really appreciate it!Thank you for taking the time to read this. We will post updates of Sofia’s journey when we have them. Hopefully we will get the call to say they have found a donor soon and we can get this beautiful baby fixed up 💚
