Heart Heroes (HH) is committed to supporting children and families in the UK and Wales affected by life-limiting or life-threatening heart conditions. We focus on critically vulnerable children and their families providing a range of specialised activities and events that foster peer support, inclusivity, and emotional well being.

Heart Heroes provide specialised equipment, facilitate transport to essential appointments, and organise well-being activities during lengthy hospital stays or isolation.

Our youngest daughter, Harriet was diagnosed with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome at 20 weeks gestation and is hopefully due her next open heart surgery within the next year, this in the third in a series of procedures (this being the Fontan) that will allow her to function with a single ventricle circulation. This is only a palliative procedure as there is no cure for her condition but will hopefully allow her to function with increased oxygen levels.

Each year we like to find a way to give something back to the fabulous, supportive charities that support us so that others can receive the same as we have should they ever need it.

I have recently set up a Leicester based hub with Heart Heroes that allows families of with children with CHD to access support through stay and play sessions, respite for parents, peer support and opportunities for medical support. These are great monthly opportunities to allow people in similar situations to bond and form friendships with people that understand their needs.
