We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Benjamin Smalley (Ben) was a 41 years old father, son, and brother who was full of life, love and energy. He was a health conscious triathlete and was making strides in his career. In short, Benjamin was winning at life.

Benjamin suddenly became ill on 28th October 2023 and was admitted to the hospital on 29th October 2023. He was ill for a short time and died on 8th November 2023. Following his death, we were told that Benjamin had an extremely large high grade glioma (aggressive malignant brain tumour), which was unsurvivable and incompatible with life.

Before 28th October 2023, Benjamin was unaware that he was poorly, except for some headaches. His death is a terrible shock and trauma to all who knew and loved him, because this insidious disease took Benjamin so quickly.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!

The Smalley family are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. More particularly, Brain Tumour Research are working to find the cause of glioma tumours and prevention. We feel that this work is so important because the outcomes of glioma tumours are devastating and there is no cure.

Benjamin was so brave in his short illness and was desperately sad to leave his beautiful children. He tried so hard to stay for them. Please donate so that one day, other families won't have to say goodbye to someone so loved. Your donations will help to fund this important research and hopefully prevent such a tragic loss.
