Story
The Eden Dora Trust was set up by a mum 10 years ago after her daughter got Encephalitis – an inflammation or swelling of the brain, caused by a virus, an infection, or an autoimmune response - that anyone can get, at any time. Encephalitis is a life-altering condition that can severely impact children’s and their families’ lives forever, often leading to an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
Their family's life changed forever on that day, and they didn't want any other family to go through what they went through - scared, alone, lost and confused.
Since the charity started they've helped so many families all over the UK with Encephalitis & ABI, supporting through diagnosis, education for schools about ABI, rehabilitation, a helpline, advice, research, awareness raising, workshops, study days and loads more. Now more than ever, they need our help!
Without funds - Eden Dora Trust will not be able to continue supporting the children & families that rely on them.
This charity is important to me because I have seen first-hand how hard they work to ensure that everyone receives the support they need to get through the challenging times ahead.
As a HCPC registered clinical psychologist and an academic neuropsychologist, I volunteer my time as a member of the Eden Dora Trust's professional advisory panel to support the charity in their evidence-based practice. I will be raising awareness of Encephalitis and ABI and raising vital funds for the charity by taking part in the EDT 50-mile challenge.
I will be running my first half-marathon (13 miles) on Sunday 26th May 2024 (I am nervous and excited!), and will then run 10miles a week until 26th June 2024. Thank you so very much for helping me to support them and their amazing work.
