Story
So, I always said I would NEVER jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft, BUT…… sometimes we must step out of our comfort zone. When I decided I wanted (well I never really wanted to) to do this I knew it would make a few of you who know me well say “what’s wrong with Al”
Having been on this journey now for 2 years and 8 months I decided it’s my turn to do some fundraising for Maggie's Southampton, especially after Ange did an awesome job a couple of years ago running 50 miles and raising a massive amount. Ange and I are passionate that people like us, with cancer, get the support and kindness we sometimes need to help us get through them good and bad days!
When I was first diagnosed both Ange and I felt the devastating shock that cancer brings with it, to be told you have cancer is hard enough but, to be told you cannot be cured really sucks. We found ourselves in a new club that no one really wants to join but, hey here we are let’s not cry about it and let’s get on with life!!
Maggie’s Southampton have been there for us from day one. My mind was put at ease on that first meeting when I knew that they had Ange’s back and would do anything and everything to help her come to terms and get her through the tough times. The kindness, the moral support, their care, their words really is priceless. Ange once said to me she didn’t know she needed anyone until the day she walked through their door.
So, this is me asking you guys and girls please could you help me help them and throw a few quid this way to ensure that the next person and the next person and the next person (because there will be more) get the same treatment that my Ange received.
If anyone wants to come along to laugh/watch/support my jump please do, Old Sarum Airfield 24-08-24 it’s an early jump, time to be announced.
