Story
We often hear that 1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Even so, it came as a huge shock to become one of them in 2021, in the midst of the Covid pandemic.
I was fortunate to be treated at Barts in London, a hospital that specialises in cancer care, and after 10 months of treatment (chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy) I'm now in remission.
Every 3 weeks, between rounds of chemotherapy, I set myself the goal of completing a 10k run. My hope is that 42.2k without chemo to contend with will be a breeze in comparison, and in April 2025 I'll be running the London Marathon in aid of the World Cancer Research Fund.
Why I'm fundraising for the World Cancer Research Fund
As part of an international network of charities, they’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global health policy and informing the public since 1982.
While society continues to search for a cure, their prevention and survival work helps people to live longer, healthier, and happier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer. The £2,500 I’m aiming to raise will pay for one week of world-leading medical research.
Thank you for anything you can spare to help me achieve this target!
