Story
Abigail's Footsteps are a local Kent charity and came onto my radar from friends at my running club. One of our Team Leaders, Alyssa Ely-Cook, works tirelessly for the charity and our club fund raising is in memory of her little one Rebecca Ely-Cook.
Since 2010, Abigail's Footsteps have been working hard to improve the way bereaved parents are cared for by hospitals and to better educate midwives on how to care for grieving parents.
Abigail's Footsteps also help by creating sympathetic space for parents in hospitals, there is now Abigails Place, a suite at Medway Maritime Hospital dedicated to this. In addition, the fundraising has allowed the provision of 'Abi cooling cots' in maternity units, to allow parents to spend additional time with their baby. They also offer specialist baby loss counselling sessions.
I cannot imagine the devastation that this loss must cause to parents hence why I have committed to running the London Marathon to help this great cause. Any support you are able to give to me will be most appreciated to enable this vital Charity to continue their wonderful support of bereaved families.
Thank you.
