Story
Childhood cancer. Two words that never should be together in a sentence. Yet they are – all too often.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in children aged between 1 and 15. But yet only 2% of the UK’s annual public cancer research spend is allocated to research focused solely on childhood and young adult cancer.
Why my interest?
My 8-year-old granddaughter is undergoing treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s-Lymphoma. She’s responding well and coping well. But her illness has brought the Little Princess Trust (LPT) onto my radar.
All the times I've thought or said 'I can't begin to imagine what you're going through.' Well I can now!
Anyway!
As we all know, a common side-effect of chemotherapy is hair loss. And the LPT give back to children their confidence and identity via the provision of FREE human hair wigs made from hair donated to them.
They also fund research. Since 2016 they’ve committed over £30million to projects with a focus on finding kinder and more effective treatments for childhood cancers.
Anyway, as you can see I don’t have sufficient hair to be an LPT Super Hairo doner! BUT I can go the other way … so I’m going to get a buzz cut.
Now, I do not want a buzz cut. But no child wants cancer either. So please sponsor me and help me to:
1. Raise awareness of the work of the Little Princess Trust
2. Encourage any man, woman or child with long hair to donate it to the Little Princess Trust for them to make into a wig for a child or young person that’s lost their hair to their cancer treatment.
3. Raise £700. That’s what it costs to make one wig. More would be amazing of course. Anything at all I’ll receive with gratitude. But if, with your support, we can together pay for ONE wig that’ll be wonderful.
Thank you! xxx
