I am attempting to complete the London Marathon in a wheelchair. Known by many for how many injuries I have suffered over the years it is my good fortune that I don't actually need the chair, so read on to see why...

Nearly 3 decades ago my friend, also called Andy sustained a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).

I have been so privileged to witness both the darker moments and the incredible resilience he has shown in that time. Not just overcoming the moments of physical and mental challenge, but supporting and caring for so many others along the way. This attempt at completing the London Marathon in a wheelchair is a nod to him and the several others who live day in day out without the option to walk away.
I believe that with the astonishing progress of science comes so many possibilities to enhance the quality of life of those living with the impact of an SCI and the chance to cure the symptoms and improve the prognosis of so many.
Please if able dig deep and support my blistered fingers and thumbs as I seek to complete this challenge...
Someone sustains a spinal cord injury every four hours in the UK. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications.
Spinal Research is the UKs leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord, and we exist to cure paralysis.
With your help, we can #CureParalyis.
