Story
W/c 9th September 2024 I’ll be attempting to swim the English Channel to raise money for a charity close to my heart - Caudwell Youth.
I’ll be swimming approx 22miles non-stop for between 12-15 hours to the official English Channel association rules ie not being able to touch the boat and just wearing googles, a cap and my budgy smugglers!
Caudwell Youth supports young people aged 11 to 24 with issues around mental health, care experience, offending behavior, and exploitation.
Caudwell Youth supports through person-centred volunteer mentoring for up to two years. Their work makes a difference where often young people have nowhere else to turn. These youngsters have often had a challenging start to life, sometimes impacted by addiction or struggled with neurodiversity - two areas that have had a major impact on my life.
Having come out the other side of these battles myself, I now actively work as a mentor in an alternative education centre helping children and young adults get their lives back on track - I have seen first hand the positive impact that the Caudwell charities have.
THE BEST PART - Billionaire philanthropist, John Caudwell, matches 33% of all funds raised, so for every £1 you donate John will add 33p on top!
My swim is also part of the Torchrunners Globe Challenge for Caudwell Youth running from the 9th September 2024 until 17th October 2024. This campaign will see lots of challenges to get us covering a collective 38,000 km, to make the world of difference.
This English Channel swim is actually just the warm up - in Summer 2025 I’m planning to become the first persons to “officially” swim across the Atlantic Ocean. www.andy-stone.com. Follow me on the socials: Atlantic Swim Andy.
Please join me in supporting Caudwell Youth.
