Andy's Army fundraiser for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation

Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon 2025 · 11 May 2025 ·
We are a group of Andy’s friends and family.
With Andy we are running Rob Burrows marathon to raise as much money as we can for MyName5 Doddie foundation and to raise awareness about MND.
We were devastated when we learnt of Andy's diagnosis of MND. Since then his strength of character and attitude to life has been an inspiration to all of us. He has even got himself in the Guinness book of world records for the longest recorded touch rugby match! We are proud to run this marathon for our mate Andy and all those affected by MND. '
Andy:
“I was diagnosed with MND 4 years ago. I’ve been fortunate that my progression has been slow and am still able to try and take on this challenge with my awesome friends and family. The loss of strength in my arms means I have to use supportive slings when running and this makes the challenge even harder (at least that’s what I’m telling the others!).
Doddie and Rob were both incredibly inspirational people in my MND journey. Doddie taking time to contact me personally after my diagnosis. I wanted to take on this challenge as a way of thanking them, to fundraise as much as possible for care and research for those affected by MND and to run whilst I’m still able with some of my very best mates and family ❤️”
Motor Neurone Disease is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. It kills six people every day in the UK, a third within 12 months of diagnosis and more than half within two years. It has no cure. The physical and emotional burden post diagnosis is huge and can be very difficult to process.
My Name'5 Doddie foundation are supporting vital research into a cure for motor neurone disease and care for it's sufferers. Their efforts and the advances they've made give us hope where there was none, and we want to raise as much money as possible to continue their critical work.
With many thanks to those running:
