Story
Thanks for supporting my fundraising.
Cancer has directly affected my family too many times and now it's struck more closer to home than ever before.
In August, my wife Dione, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has had a mastectomy, a second operation to remove the lymph nodes from her armpit and at the time of writing, is waiting for 6 courses of chemotherapy and fifteen days of radiotherapy to commence.
At every step, as with my late sister and other family members, Macmillan have been there, advising, hand-holding and supporting her.
It's often forgotten that Macmillan are a charity. As they work alongside our wonderful NHS staff, it is often assumed they are a part of the NHS.
As I've said with previous fundraisers, nowadays there is almost an inevitability that we or someone we love will get cancer. That is when the caring, comforting hug of Macmillan will become a hugely welcome reality.
