Dear friends and family,

We are excited and nervous about our life-changing journey with Team Hill. We will head to Uganda to work in the community and run the Masaka Marathon. This is Nicky's first marathon, and what a special place to achieve this during our first time in Africa.

Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world. We will visit schools and orphans, dig holes, build walls, work in an innovative plastic recycling factory, and do anything else to help. The Masaka Marathon supports many projects, including education, health, disability, women's rights, HIV, elderly groups, sustainability, and more.

Our fundraising efforts will also support local charities in our hometown of Oldham with food deliveries, hospital visits, the purchase of defibrillators and wheelchairs, and treatment costs. Our funding starts locally and has the potential to impact the world.

We're paying for the trip ourselves, ensuring every penny raised goes directly to the charity. Whether it's £1 or £100, your contribution will make a positive difference, and we would be deeply grateful for any support you can provide to our cause.

Masaka Marathon - 26th May 2024.

If the thought of us volunteering for a week and then running a marathon on the equator, at altitude, in the African heat isn't reason enough to support us, consider this. When we return, we'll continue training for Endure 24 Leeds, a 24-hour running event only a few weeks later. Nicky is in a team, but this will be Andy's toughest challenge yet, aiming to go beyond his longest run of 56k, aiming for a double marathon and beyond. Andy, who usually prefers the short, fast stuff up to 5k, is pushing himself to the limit for this cause.
