Story
Our dear Terry sadly lost his battle with cancer on the 5th January 2024. So in honour of his long fought fight a group of us will be taking on a 30mile walk in memory of him and those we all know who have also been through this war.
On Saturday 1st June we will be starting from Swanage and walking along the Jurassic coast line and finishing at Weymouth beach.
Any money raised will be going to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice where Terry spent his last few weeks. Phyllis Tuckwell for those that do not know was first established over 40 years ago offering medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling and practical support. It is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients and their families, living with cancer or another terminal illness (such as heart, or neurological disease) across the whole of West Surrey and part of Northeast Hampshire.
This Hospice provides amazing care for its adults, so that they have the best possible quality of life and that there ‘final days are peaceful…because every day is precious.
At Phyllis Tuckwell they provide valuable care to its patients and families, but this is only possible through generous support of the local community who provide both money and support to help them. They solely rely on donations from the public to keep the hospice running as the Government/NHS usually only provide around 20% of there income. So, with this in mind the Hospice must raise £25,000 every single day so they can continue to offer their services for those that require the care.
To put things into perspective and to give you an idea of what your donations would mean, remember this…just £10 can cover the cost of a complementary therapy goody bag for a patient, with a personalised massage oil, aromatherapy stick and pulse roller so they can feel the benefits at home. Or £100 could pay for the contents of 2 ‘nurse bags’ for one of their Clinical Nurse Specialists – (including thermometer, stethoscope and glucometer) – so they have all they need when they visit patients at home or when in the hospice.
Any contributions would be greatly appreciated for what is an amazing Charity.
Thank you.
