Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
Andy and I are taking on the 8,000 Steps a day in March Challenge for Tommy's for the 2nd time to help stop the heartbreak and devastation of baby loss and make pregnancy safe - for everyone.
As many of you will know, we have sadly lost three babies in two consecutive miscarriages. Tommy’s has been a support platform for us, providing us with information and tools to aid the healing process.
This has been especially helpful with navigating through our third pregnancy with our double rainbow baby, who is expected to join us in May.
Around one in five pregnancies sadly end in miscarriage. It is incredibly common but that doesn’t make it any less devastating. One in 100 couples, will experience recurrent miscarriage, which means three in a row or more and some couples go through this upwards of ten times before they get their longed for baby.
For most people who miscarry, there are almost no answers, no one can tell you why it has happened, or whether it will happen again (and again).
For many people in our position the best explanation for why they keep losing baby after baby is that it is just ‘bad luck’, ‘one of those things’ or ‘it just wasn’t meant to be this time’.
As well as vital research into premature and stillbirth, and making all pregnancies safer, Tommy’s aims to find better tests and treatments for miscarriage and to improve care and support for people going through it – as well as being physically traumatic, the psychological impact can be devastating as there is no routine after-care for women who miscarry.
Pregnancy loss is so common but it is something that is not often spoken about openly. Tommy’s campaigns brilliantly on this by sharing people's stories, raising awareness and encourages open conversations to help those who have experienced a miscarriage feel less alone.
As many of you also know, Amy suffers with the auto-immune condition Inflammatory Arthritis which affects the mobility of her joints, which in turn affects her ability to walk. I am challenging myself, with Amy & bump by my side, to take on the 8,000 Steps a day in March Challenge for Tommy's to help raise awareness and support the pioneering work this charity does.
Thank you for your donation and helping us to raise money for Tommy's.
Let’s make every step count!
Amy, Andy & bump!
