Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page.
This August I am taking on the huge challenge of swimming across the English Channel from Dover to France!!! The official distance is 21 miles!
I have chosen to raise money for Papyrus. We have a number of friends who have been affected by young suicide and wanted to raise money and awareness for a charity who are dedicated to helping young people struggling with thoughts of suicide.
There have only been 2,428 successful solo channel swim crossings since 1875. More people have climbed Mount Everest than have swum the channel. For the swim to be 'officially recognised ' I cannot wear a wetsuit. Therefore I will be attempting this swim wearing only swimming trunks, swim hat and goggles.
I have been training for this swim all year round in pool, lake and sea.
All donations will be very much appreciated,
Many thanks
Andy. X
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.
Every £5 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
