Andrew's 50k swim for Haematology Cancer Care, a UCLH charity

Swimming 50k distance in one month · 10 June 2024
In October 2023 my husband Andrew Hyett was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia. He is currently undergoing cycles of chemotherapy at the UCH MacMillan Cancer Centre to extend his life, there is sadly no cure to his condition.
Over the next month I intend to swim 50,000m to raise funds for Haematology Cancer Care. That is 70 lengths of a 25m pool every single day. One and a half times the length of a English Channel swim.
I fought my own battle with bone cancer, osteogenic sarcoma, when I was 19 and lost my leg above the knee. I am now an amputee swimmer.
Since Andrew's diagnosis we have learnt about the invaluable work of the HCC. They provide wide-ranging support including high-tech medical equipment and research projects, free complementary therapy for haematology patients and specialist education and training for nurses across six inpatient wards, day-care, ambulatory care and young adult and outpatient services within haematology at UCLH. You can read more about the HCC on their website https://haematologycancercare.com/
Please support me in my challenge. The care provided by everyone at UCH since Andrew's diagnosis has been wonderful. I'd like to try and give something back, and thank them for helping to keep my husband with me for as long as possible. Thank you
