Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m Andrew McRae, aged 22 and live in Aberdeen, Scotland. Earlier this year my dad was diagnosed with terminal ALK+ lung cancer which has spread to his spine. My dad has never smoked, has kept himself fit and wasn’t too bad for a 57 year old.
This type of lung cancer is relatively rare, about 1000 cases per year in the UK. There is no cure for this lung cancer, however it is usually treatable with targeted oral drugs called Tyrosene Kinase Inhibitors (TKIs). These drugs have less side effects than chemotherapy and will hopefully help to extend the length and quality of my dad’s remaining life.
To raise money for the UK ALK+ charity, I am going to run (where possible) or walk a total of 300km in 30 days. I have every day in June 2023 to complete this.
If you want to join me on a walk or run any day, get in touch through my Facebook page or WhatsApp.
