30th Anniversary Appeal
Campaign by Dyscover (RCN 1099432)
It's our 30th year of supporting people with aphasia and to celebrate this milestone anniversary, we would like to raise funds to help even more people who have this very isolating and frustrating communication disability. Please do support us!

Story

I am raising money for Dyscover, a charity local to Leatherhead where my Mum worked for 15 years, during which I learnt the value of communication and the devastating effects when that is lost.

Dyscover are proud to be in their 30th year of providing long term support and opportunity to people with aphasia and their families. Dyscover was established on 27th April 1994, and since then they have successfully adapted and developed their services and now provide both face to face and online support. The aim is to be able to help even more people with aphasia.

Aphasia is a neurological condition, acquired through stroke, brain injury or rare form of dementia and is very isolating and frustrating. Aphasia affects a person's communication, including their ability to find words, construct sentences and to understand language, both written and spoken.

Dyscover work to inform, support and empower people with aphasia to manage their communication disability and to re-engage with life, creating an aphasia friendly community in which people feel included, valued and have a sense of purpose.
