Robin Hood Half Marathon · 29 September 2024 ·

We support people with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire to reach beyond expectation and make a good life in their local community- a life full of meaning, challenge and opportunity.

Story

I am running the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on the 29th September and raising money for Reach Learning Disability.

I am not a natural long distance runner but I am casting that aside to raise money for a charity that does great work in Nottinghamshire.

When my mother passed away in 2019, Reach Learning Disability quickly arranged a supported living situation for my brother David. Mum was David's main carer which is a familiar story for many with Down's Syndrome.

In June 2023, David moved into his permanent, purpose built supported living in Southwell. You can read more about the Southwell accomodation project here; https://reachuk.org/projects/accommodation-project/
