Story
Hi, I am the team leader of "Cockatoo Kings", a team of 3 that is taking part in a massive virtual hike of 1,000 kilometers over 12 weeks. There are 300+ active participants across 160 teams, all trying to effectively hike from Kalamunda to Albany, just like walking on the Bibbulmun Track itself.
Our team is helping to raise much needed funds for Bibbulmun Track maintenance, and (my personal favourite) 10% of funds raised also go towards the amazing Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, helping save WA's Black Cockatoos.
Your donation will help to continue to maintain, and improve, the Track and facilities, and conserve the environment through which it passes, to ensure that this wonderful resource is available for future generations to enjoy.
Funds are used to:
- Repair and maintain the 49 sleeping shelters, water tanks and other facilities along the Track.
- Install water bars or steps to stabilise the Track to prevent or repair erosion.
- Replace or improve signage after bushfires or when damaged.
- Prune vegetation and remove fallen trees to keep the path clear.
- Realign the Track as required to improve the experience for walkers.
