Nearly 50 MILLION people are trapped in slavery worldwide.

Almost 25% of these are CHILDREN!!

27.6 MILLION are trapped in forced labour…

6.3 MILLION are in commercial sexual exploitation…

4 MILLION are in forced labour imposed by state authorities…

and 22 MILLION are in forced marriages.

This is not just happening in some other country on the other side of the world. It’s happening HERE, in our cities and in our neighbourhoods.

I am privileged to be a trustee of Rebuild East Midlands, a small but mighty charity working to support those who have been rescued (or fought their own way) out of modern slavery or human trafficking. We provide long term help for individuals and families who are living in the Derby area, empowering them to live free from exploitation and slavery.

I’m taking part in my first ever 10K run to raise vital funds to help – I’ve never run that far before, but I want to do something to challenge myself and raise awareness about the great work of Rebuild!
