Story
This year, with the support of my wonderful wife I’ve decided to take on an incredible challenge. A Sub-Arctic Ski Marathon – to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause that is deeply personal to me and my family.
I am dedicating this journey to my father, who has been living with dementia. Watching someone you love slowly fade away is one of the hardest things imaginable. For my family and me imparticular, it has been a deeply emotional and painful experience. Visiting him is tough, seeing him like this is heart-breaking, and I often find myself struggling with sadness long after I’ve returned home.
But this isn’t about me, it’s about making a difference. Dementia is an incredibly cruel disease, not just for those diagnosed but for their families too. The Alzheimer’s Society does vital work supporting those affected and funding research into better treatments and, one day, a cure.
Through this challenge, I hope to raise both awareness and funds for the incredible work they do. Every penny donated will go towards helping families like mine navigate this difficult journey and supporting groundbreaking research to fight this devastating condition.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Kevin Griffiths of KWG Building & Civils Ltd for their sponsorship (without them this wouldn't be possible), and Travis Perkins Managed Services for their generous support. Your backing means so much and will help me achieve this challenge for such an important cause.
The ski marathon will push me to my limits, but it’s nothing compared to what people living with dementia and their families go through every single day.
Please consider supporting me in any way you can, whether it’s through a donation, sharing this page, or simply spreading the word about the Alzheimer’s Society. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
